The story behind timbre tones

My enthusiasm with guitars, their sounds and shapes, started when I was in my late teens. Although I never became (or intended to become) a professional musician, I have practiced quite a lot, performed and had a chance to play on several records too.

I love investigating how different guitars respond to different playing styles and touches. And I'm convinced that each guitar has different songs inside her, only waiting to be set free.

In this photo I'm recording a medieval-ish bard song for my friend Jari Kekäle's upcoming release, using an ancient(!!?) Finnish made guitar from over a century ago.

This particular guitar with flamed birch back and sides, birch neck and spruce top was in a very sorry shape when it came in. It had to be re-glued back to life from its bits and pieces. Now its a wonderful example of a vintage parlor guitar with a really open, sweet and delicate sound and an amazingly loud voice concerning its size. Of course, the Timbre Tones mic captures the sweet sound as it is!

Knowing my instrument means better service for my customers.
